the secret to localized fat burning

SFP, the secret to localized fat burning

Localized fat is the real worry of men and women, difficult to burn: let's find out what it is, why it is formed and what exercises to do to eliminate it

Even more than body weight, it is localized fat that is the real concern of men and women. Fake skinny people who accumulate fat in very specific points of the body – the belly for men, buttocks and thighs for women – which, in addition to being unsightly and also limiting in many sports and daily activities, is above all directly linked to numerous diseases, even serious ones such as hypertension, diabetes and heart attack. The problem is that localized fat is very, very stubborn, and reducing or eliminating it is not easy at all.

Localized fat: why is it formed?

But why does men's belly form and accumulate fat on women's buttocks and thighs? Because an ancestral physiological mechanism has been superimposed in recent decades on an excessive availability of food. For millions of years, humans have lived with scarce food available and in conditions of caloric deficit, and the body has learned to "store" it by saving energy as much as possible. Millions of years of continuous physical activity to hunt, cultivate and survive in conditions of scarce food have created a conservative organism, which physiologically "sets aside" resources for periods of scarcity.
But then the availability of food increased, for everyone in particular in the last century, and so overweight and obesity spread on a large scale, until the last century limited to the noble and wealthy classes.

Belly, hips and buttocks: why is it difficult to burn this fat?

One would think that by eating a little less (or rather: eating better, with the right balance of nutrients and the right amount of calories) and doing more exercise, that is, by rebalancing the calorie balance, not only do you lose weight but you also eliminate localized fat on the belly, hips and buttocks. And yet, in fact, this is not the case. It is true that when we do activity, our body produces adrenaline and noradrenaline which activate the mobilization of fats. It is also true that this mechanism is completely individual, which is also triggered in relation to the heart rate and only after a certain period of more or less prolonged time. But it is above all true that fat localized on the belly, hips and buttocks is less sensitive to the activation of catecholamines released during physical activity. And so by trying to eliminate the belly or slim the hips and buttocks we end up eating a little less, doing more physical activity, and triggering a vicious circle of localized fat storagewhereby we lose it almost everywhere in our body except where we would like to. What to do then?

The Secret to Localized Fat Burning

The secret to burning localized fat is to cancel the inhibitory effect of lipolysis exerted by the α-2 adrenoreceptors, i.e. to defuse the local fat storage mechanism that we have been carrying around for millennia. This was discovered in 2007 by the American physiologist Lyle McDonald who devised a training protocol called Stubborn Fat Protocol or SFP (protocol for stubborn fat) by combining two of the most well-known cardio protocols in a single training session, respectively the anaerobic High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and the aerobic Steady State Training (SST).
